Acupuncture & Dry Needling
Acupuncture is an ancient and widely used TCM - Traditional Chinese Medicine - complementary therapy, the therapy originates from over 2000 years ago in China, where it remains an integral part of the medical system.
Thin microfilament needles are used to stimulate Qi - energy or life force - via the Meridian system. Meridians are channels, or pathways found in and around the entire body that help transport the flow of Qi. Each meridian receives Qi from a specific organ and corresponding acupoints are found along the meridian pathway. The points are targeted during treatment by placing needles into the tissue for between 5 to 20 minutes. Clients feel a variety of sensations, maybe sleepiness, sense of calm or a release of emotion.
As well as traditional acupoints, areas of pain, overuse and tension can be treated with acupuncture.
It is helpful for -
Headaches/migraines
Joint/soft tissue pain
Nausea
IBS
Injury recovery
Menstruation and menopause symptoms
Sleep patterns
Anxiety and stress
Acupuncture is a great friend of the parasympathetic nervous system, it stimulates our feel good hormones and restores a sense of calm and balance in body and mind.
DRY NEEDLING -
Dry Needling is focussed on the use of strong stimulation of muscle tissue using longer acupuncture needles. Dry Needling is effective for working deeply into overused global muscle groups, such as the gluteals and quadriceps.
Breaking down sticky fibres to allow smoother activation can increase flexibility and range, helpful for essential day to day functional movement as well as physical activity. Tight postural muscle groups will benefit, helping you walk and sit tall, in turn helping a general sense of wellbeing and confidence. Post workout/class DOMS respond particularly well to Dry Needling.
Acupuncture and Dry Needling are most effective when combined with massage.

“I recently went to Emma at Spirit+Soul Wellbeing for a sports massage to address a nagging injury I had developed while training for a half marathon. Her deep tissue massage techniques were just what I needed to break up scar tissue and relieve the muscle tension that was causing my pain. After just one session with Emma, I noticed a significant improvement in my pain level and overall mobility.”
